Wire Screens When You Need Them

Whether you need a stock or custom spec wire screen surface, depend on Durex. Our expert technicians crimp and weave wire cloth to your precise specifications. We use superior grades of steel, and employ strict quality-control procedures throughout the manufacturing process. Standard stock items are ready for shipment two days after we receive your order. Non-standard items require longer fabricating time, but usually ship within ten days or less.

Our policy is to serve you. Responding to your individual needs is the mission of our Customer Service Department. If you have specification changes, if your processing plant has an emergency breakdown, or if anything else unexpected happens, call us! We guarantee prompt, personal attention, because we want you to be a satisfied customer.

Ordering Durex Wire Cloth Screens
Depend on your local Durex service representative to guide you through the thousands of standard wire screen products in our catalog. Your rep will help you determine the best combination of wire cloth specifications for your screening application. Ordering screens has never been easier! Before you talk to your rep, you might consider the following factors:

Dur-X-Accuslot
1. Size of wire cloth. Overall width and length. If turned edges, note proper inside and outside clamping widths.

2. Opening construction:
  • Square opening
  • Rectangular slot
  • LongSlot triple shoot or double shoot
  • Dur-X-Vibraspan® LongSlot triple or five shoot
  • Fine mesh wire cloth
  • Dur-X-Accuslot (combines accuracy of square openings with production and efficiency of longslotted wire)

3. Opening size: Clear openings: Specify actual dimension of space between inside faces of adjacent parallel wires. Mesh openings: Mesh is the number of openings per lineal inch, counting from wire center to the next parallel wire center. Be sure to specify wire diameter. For sieve screens, you can specify a sieve number instead of a mesh number.

4. Slots: For other than square opening screens, specify whether long dimension of slot is perpendicular to or parallel to the hook strips.

5. Crimp: For square opening wire cloth, specify type of crimp:

  • Lock crimp
  • Flat crimp
  • Intermediate crimp
  • Double crimp

Straight Wire
6. Wire: Specify diameter of wire (in decimal thousandths of an inch, or by gauge number), and wire grade from the following:

  • Grade 10 - high carbon spring steel
  • Grade 20 - high-quality Xtreme oil tempered steel
  • Grade 30 - high-quality stainless steel

7. Size lap: A standard 1-inch lap is recommended on 5/16-inch opening specifications or smaller (.135-inch wire diameter or smaller) if vibrator has no cross-supporting bar at point where cloth sections butt. Specify lap length required; edge corners will be notched accordingly for easier installation.

8. Edge construction: Durex offers 30 standard edge construction styles, including plain bent hooks, edge bars, shrouded hooks, welded edges, welded hooks, and more. Consult with your Durex representative to determine the edge construction that's right for your equipment.
